VIS Cares

Empowering Students. Creating Compassionate Leaders.

VIS Cares is a unique, community-driven initiative designed to turn empathy into action. Funded and led by the VIS Parents & Friends, this program provides the resources and mentorship necessary for our students to lead impactful service projects that bridge the gap between our campus and the wider Lao community.

At its heart, VIS Cares is both educational and charitable. We aim to develop students into compassionate leaders who don’t just see a need, but have the agency to meet it.

How It Works

VIS Cares functions as a collaborative ecosystem where every branch of our community has a seat at the table:

  • The Vision: VIS students and community members propose service projects that benefit the local community in Vientiane and across Laos.

  • The Committee: A dedicated group of parents, staff, teachers, and students reviews each proposal to ensure it aligns with our values of service and engagement.

  • The Support: Once approved, projects typically receive grants in the $500–$1,000 USD range to bring the vision to life.

  • The Standards: To ensure transparency and sustainability, the Head of School and the Finance Department oversee all financial practices and project governance.

The Project Framework

For a proposal to be considered for a VIS Cares grant, it must align with our two foundational pillars. This ensures that every dollar spent creates a meaningful ripple effect both inside and outside our campus:

  • Tangible Community Impact: Projects must provide a direct, measurable benefit to the Lao community, addressing genuine needs with sustainable solutions.

  • Active Student Engagement: VIS Cares is an educational journey. Every initiative must involve VIS students in the planning or execution phases, fostering leadership, empathy, and hands-on learning.
