Student Life

VIS Student Leadership

From the classroom to the sports field, and from the theatre to all corners of our host country Laos, our students use inquiry, critical thinking skills and risk taking to deepen their understanding of concepts across a range of academic disciplines and in the wider world.

Our student's activities demonstrate our commitment as a school to our mission statement (challenge, inspire and empower).

We offer a range of co-curricular activities for students including sports, cultural exchanges, Model United Nations (MUN) and leadership summits.

Vientiane International School actively engages and encourages students to reach out into the Lao community through a wide variety of service projects including fundraising and sporting activities.

VIS Model United Nations

Model United Nations (MUN)

Model United Nations (MUN) is a year-long program in which students develop their writing, debating and public speaking skills whilst learning about diplomacy, international relations and the United Nations. Students from Grades 8 through 12 are eligible to participate in MUN activities where they will put their critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities to the test.

Global Issues Network (GIN)

The Global Issues Network (GIN) empowers young people to collaborate locally, present regionally and share globally, projects that work to address global issues within their direct community. These student-led conferences are supported by school communities to create positive change on a local through to international scale.

MRISA Leadership Conference

The MRISA Leadership Conference is a series of workshops and activities designed to enhance the leadership skills of students throughout the South East Asia region. The conference is held annually at one of the eight international schools that form the The Mekong River International Schools Association.
