Postsecondary Planning

From exploration to application: College & Career Counselling
Graduating high school is a pivotal moment in a young person's life, and as they prepare to embark on their next chapter, we want to be there every step of the way. Our Postsecondary Counseling program is designed to help students and families navigate the exciting and sometimes challenging journey of exploring the various options they have and finding the right fit aligned with their higher education and career aspirations.

A Journey of Self-Discovery
Our journey together begins early in grade 9, helping students discover their passions and identify their unique strengths and interests. We care about finding a path that brings fulfillment and purpose. Through one-on-one guidance, psychometric assessments, and career/university research, we help students explore and understand where their talents and interests might lead them. We empower students to dream big and build a strong foundation for a successful and happy life.
Guiding Your Next Chapter
As students get closer to graduation in grade 11 & 12, we work on finalizing their postsecondary plans and identifying the best options to meet their needs for advancement into higher education and/or pursuing their career goals. We understand that this process can feel overwhelming with countless possibilities and complex applications, which is why we offer personalized support for our students and families. Our goal is to make this transition as smooth and stress-free as possible.
At Vientiane International School, students and families may have different experiences, knowledge, and familiarity with the postsecondary planning process. Postsecondary planning for most students may include university applications, gap year, college/community college, vocational training, internships, etc. Some may begin the postsecondary planning process with already clear pathways and plans in mind, while others may still have more general thoughts about what they want to do and where they want to go. The role of the counselor is to guide students and families through a process that considers their needs and interests to find the most fitting options for their success.
The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take it away from you.
